Just saw them tonight at Crystal Pistol (417 N. Main)... Wonderful, inspiring music. The music seems to have a story line behind it.... the slows and the builds... Just amazing!!

David-
up until last week they were accepting submissions at www.okkle.com. I am not sure if they are still accepting, but that is where you can apply.
Thanks for reading,

To Whom It May Concern:
This is David of the David Castro Band out of Wagoner, OK. We are just finishing a tour that took us through Sheldon MO, Lincoln NE, Omaha NE, Souix Falls SD, Topeka KS, & Eureka Springs AR. We were supposed to play at the Tulsa Mayfest, but our spot was lost due to rain. I would love to be a part of Free Tulsa. You can check us out at the myspace above or at davidcastroband.com or youtube or facebook just type in "david castro band". Thanks for your time, and I hope to hear back from you soon!

Judges who are involved in the music business, festivals, and music listeners reviewed the band submissions (over 100+ from across the country and Canada). The judges socred the music and submitted their score sheets. It is important to note that the "Oklahoma Sound" prevailed.

In the words of the Red Dirt Rangers, "Spread the dirt!" Afterall, music is for everyone.

This is about to sound really corny, but the good thing about this that it gives us an opportunity, as Tulsans and/or musicians, to form our own "plan B". If everyone got on the same wavelength, we could possibly drum up some quick interest into something like a mini-festival on North Main, Brady, or even the Blue Dome itself. I made a group on Facebook (http://bit.ly/9LGDcm) to provide an open forum for discussion, opinions, ideas, and suggestions on this topic, as we try to get some things together in the next month. I encourage anyone to participate...

Just because DFest 2010 was canceled doesn't mean we all have to wear egg on our faces. If we pull together, we can do something good. That is alllll!

Good write-up, Colleen.
